Not many customers place emphasis on testing of CTs and PTs. However, for utilities this is mandated by PRC-005 that testing of CTs and PTs is performed. CTs and PTs provide information to protective relays for fault detection and to metering devices for billing, monitoring, etc. CTs and PTs should be part of your typical preventative maintenance scheme.
